Our team currently uses WhatsApp for daily communication and we assumed NetGym would replace it, but there are several gaps making that impossible right now:
Notification specificity: on WhatsApp, phone notifications tell me who sent the message and which channel it's in, so I can immediately triage urgency. A DM from our manager is clearly urgent; a notification from our "Celebrations" channel is a birthday shout-out and can wait. NetGym notifications don't give us this context.
Reaction notifications: WhatsApp notifies us when someone hearts or emojis a message. NetGym does not, so I have to manually check the app to see if anyone responded to something I posted.
Voice notes from phone: our team's preferred communication method. Not currently supported in NetGym.
Threaded messaging (like email): we hoped NetGym would replace email too, but it can't hold parallel threads on separate topics with the same person. For example, our YTT facilitator gets several emails from me each week on different topics (a scheduling question in the morning, a manual review question in the afternoon). These each need their own thread so I can track her responses to each topic separately. A chat channel isn't the right format for this. It's the reason we're still on email for anything topic-based, which we had signed up for NetGym hoping it would replace.
Message display bug: when I'm typing a longer message in chat, the lower part of the text disappears from view. I can't see what I'm typing, which leads to typos.
Video length limit: I can only send videos of a few seconds. We need meaningfully longer video capability for teacher training clips, form corrections, and studio walk-throughs.
